69. Banish Mom Guilt and Stop People Pleasing with Annie Henderson
Manage episode 295072147 series 2842778
How many times do we say “I’m sorry” in our day? Or tell our kids to apologize and say “sorry” after everything they do wrong? Or even do things they might not feel comfortable doing in that moment like FaceTime the grandparents or give a friend a hug? We sometimes guilt ourselves and our children to do things we might not want to do just to please the other party. These habits are learned at a young age.
In today’s episode, Annie Henderson and I talk about how to end mom guilt and stop being a people pleaser, what it's like to co-parenting with parent of opposite views, and how social media has helped her create a safe space, community and support for Christian LGBTQ+ and allies.
Annie grew up as a people pleaser and did not come out of the closet until she was in her late 20s after getting married and having a baby. Annie now has a partner of 9 years and a 14 year old daughter. She lives in Texas and is a Life Coach, Counselor, EFT Practitioner and Coming Out Coach for LGBTQ+ and families struggling with their child coming out and need some guidance along the way.
She has also partnered with her church to create a safe space for LGBT and Allies on Facebook because they know how much the church has hurt the LGBT community and are wanting to provide a safe, judgement free and affirming space.
