Releasing is a powerful thing to do. Many of us hold on to a lot of things whether they serve us or not. It can be quite difficult to experience shifts in who we are and downright grief inducing to realize the lives we are living no longer serve us or align with our highest good. Giving ourselves space to let go and walk away is deeply freeing. So how do we find the courage to put ourselves first? How do we move through the feelings of guilt or loss that may come with releasing in a society that teaches women to put others first? Releasing old ideas, expectations, or unhealthy coping mechanisms all require three things: patience, practice and grace. Today’s guest is a person learning the power of letting go. Join Helen King and I for a candid, vulnerable conversation on learning to surrender when life doesn’t go according to plan. Tune in to hear more about: How her identity has shifted after her recent ADHD diagnosis, how her cancer experience has taught her to create the best possible life for herself and why releasing expectations is a courageous act.

Meet the Artist: Helen

Helen King is a podcaster, podcast professional, cancer survivor and stay-at-home cat mom living in Auckland (Tāmaki Makaurau) New Zealand. She is the owner of HK productions, a production company that helps passionate leaders who want to grow their brand using podcasting. Helen is also the host of The C-word Radio, a podcast for young cancer survivors. The C-word Radio is a place for cancer survivors to find a home after treatment ends. Through her work with the podcast as well as The C-word Radio Blog, Helen hopes to share her own experiences and those of other survivors in order to make people feel less alone. After receiving an ADHD diagnosis well into her adulthood, Helen also uses her platform to chronicle her experiences as a neurodivergent person.

Listen in as Helen shares:

  • How her ADHD diagnosis has shifted her idea of who she is
  • Why she believes release is a powerful thing (and how this has shown up in her life and business)
  • Lessons from her cancer experience: how the uncertainity of life has taught her to let go
  • How letting go of “shoulds” has impacted her business
  • Her number one rule when it comes to pricing yourself
  • Why it is a powerful thing to be vulnerable and share your voice in front of other people
  • The reason that real life begins when you start unlearning
  • How she has learned that success will not cure loss (and why this is okay)
