The Burial Cloth of Jesus: Revisiting the Shroud | Fr. Andrew Dalton | Episode #158
Manage episode 443456766 series 3457095
The Shroud of Turin is the most studied archeological object in human history, and Fr. Andrew Dalton joins the BeatiDudes for a journey into Shroud science that will move you regardless of where you are in your own faith walk. This is a throwback repost from Season Two and a tribute to one of our favorite episodes of all time.
What the Gospels do not record, Shroud science does. But what does it reveal about the physical sufferings of the man? Are signs of Resurrection traced on the Shroud? How was this enigmatic image, which acts as a photonegative and encodes three-dimensional information, formed in the first place? Do these linen fibers contain the blood that was shed for our salvation?
Fr. Andrew Dalton is a Catholic priest of the Legionaries of Christ and professor of theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome. He teaches the Synoptic Gospels and Biblical Greek and Hebrew.
Fr. Dalton obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Shroud Studies in 2011 and became a board member of Othonia, an international center of investigation on the Shroud, in 2017.
In 2018, he worked with Shroud experts worldwide to bring university-level studies to the English-speaking world. He also teaches the Biblical Theology of the Passion of the Christ for the Science and Faith Institute, which collaborates with the International Centre of Shroud Studies in Turin and the Giulio Ricci Diocesan Centre of Shroud Studies in Rome.
