In light of recent events, specifically events that relate to the global outcries of racial injustice, the Black Lives Matter movement, acknowledgement of white privilege, and more exposure to witnessing violence founded in racism, I have chosen to create an episode to help educators hold space for their students to reflect on and process their own experiences. This is not meant to be a therapy session in the classroom, but there are ways which we can create therapeutic and safe environments within the boundaries and context of school.
I do urge you to listen to and absorb all of the incredibly rich content that is available and authored by members of the BIPOC communities, but if my teachings and style resonate with you, please listen to this episode, reflect, and process. I invite you to get comfortable in the discomfort of these conversations because they will ultimately transform us into the Compassionate Educators are students, our families, our communities, and our world need us to be.
