Message: How can you become something you already are? Sounds like a misnomer. In fact, we are given the power and strength through the Spirit to put off our former self and put on the righteousness of the new self. It's easier said than done, because the old self lingers on. However, the seed of righteousness in the new man cannot sin, it is born of God, but the old man is bound by sin and death, unable to please God. Man has an unregenerated spirit which allow us to operate on earth, resulting in death, unable to discern the righteous requirements of God. Man has a corruptible body of flesh with lust, appetites and habits which does not please God. Man is carnally minded, not subject to laws nor can be, an enemy of God. New man is free from the laws of sin and death, operating in the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, allowing us to be in this world, but not of this world. New man is made alive by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, spiritual beings that fight with the flesh, emerging convicted. New man includes a immortal, incorruptible body which awaits us at the moment we are saved. New man is spiritually minded and feasts on the Word of God, denying the lusts of the flesh, walking in life and peace with discernment. The old man is patterned after Adam, bent on sin, whereas new man is patterned after Christ without sin. Therefore, walk by faith in the Spirit of Christ with a willingness to die to sin.

Scripture: Ephesians 4:22-24 "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." KJV
