In November of 1971, a man calling himself Dan Cooper boarded a Northwest Orient Airlines Boeing 727 which was only scheduled to make a short flight along the west coast. During that flight, the relaxed, middle-aged man casually passed a note to one of the flight attendants that informed her that he had a bomb on board. He went on to demand exactly $172,000 in $50, $20, and $10 bills, 2 very specific parachutes and he promised nobody would get hurt if everyone involved cooperated.

When the plane touched down, authorities complied with Cooper's demands and gave him the money, along with two, very rudimentary parachutes. Perhaps as a show of good faith, or for some other reason, Cooper allowed all of the passengers to disembark from the plane, never being the wiser that they had been part of a hijacking.

Shortly thereafter, with only the flight crew and the man calling himself Cooper still on board, the plane took to the skies again, only to fly into history. At some point during that second leg of the flight, Cooper opened the rear compartment of the plane and, as legend has it, jumped into infamy, never to be seen or heard of again. What's more, about $5,000 of the $172,000 was found by a young boy some years later, apparently having washed up on a beach - however not one dollar of the hijacker's ransom was ever spent - not even $1!

Does that mean Cooper didn't survive the jump? Or could it be something much more dark and ominous? Put your cyber sleuthing skills to work with our panel of investigators as they closely examine all the evidence and work to answer the unanswered questions - who was DB Cooper and what happened to the money?
