This letter is something I wrote to her when I was just entering adulthood and I felt it appropriate to share it on her birthday which was on the 5th of April. I miss my mother every day and I wish she were still here with me to see me through some of the life events I've experienced since she died. I owe my mother a lot. Send us a text This poem is one of my earlier works in 2020. It was the year my mother died and it speaks about the day we went to pick up her ashes at the funeral home. It was probably one of the hardest days of my life. I remember it clearly, almost as if it happened just yesterday. I hope that if you are someone who lost a loved one and you listen to this piece, that you will remember that loved ones are never really lost when they die. Send us a text Blood on my hands tells a story of a little girl who went through an excruciating and life-altering experience by the hands of her stepfather. It tells the story of how victims always blame themselves and how the scars linger, years after the ordeal happened. These scars are not always visible but they are there nonetheless. Send us a text I think we all know Proverbs 31. It's an inspiring scripture on what it means to be a Godly woman. I love it, I truly do and I do aspire to be that kind of woman but when I imagine the woman who inspired the scripture, I think of her as someone, who just like me, struggles sometimes and that is why I wrote this poem. She looked so beautiful in it, and I wrote this to remember her in that way; beautiful and elegant. She died on the 26th of June 2020.
