54:15After a blistering start from Shelbourne saw them race into a 6-0 lead before Brenda Tabe got a consolation goal in half time injury time. Two goals each from player of the match Noelle Murray and Kate Mooney as well as strikes from Leah Doyle and Jess Gargan saw Shels set up a cup winning performance which belied the competition between these two over the last couple of years. In the immediate aftermath of the cup final Athlone announced the departure of their head coach Ciaran Kilduff who becomes the 5th vacancy or managerial change in the League alongside Waterford, Wexford, Sligo and the recent appointment of Sean Russell in Treaty United. Breifne Earley & Aaron Clarke will be joined by former Irish International Meabh de Burca to discuss all of these as well as the WNT squad which was announced late last week. Live from 8:15pm this evening.…

1:10:17Swashbuckling Athlone Town secured their maiden league title with a resounding 2-0 victory over Bohemians on TG4 on Saturday despite Shels doing what was required of them with a 3-0 win over the previous champions Peamount. Elsewhere a gallant Treaty overcame Galway to potentially set up their best finish to a season in some time as Sligo Rovers secured their first win of the season in their penultimate game in a disrupted game on Leeside. Wexford and Shamrock Rovers could not be separated in Ferrycarrig Park finishing 2-2. Despite the glut of action across the league it was off the field events which dominated the coverage of the league this season as some end of season retirements are announced and Rovers defender Savannah McCarthy is pulled from a burning vehicle with serious injuries on Sunday evening. All this and a preview of the final round of games this weekend from Breifne Earley and Aaron Clarke (The WNL Show)…

59:41A flurry of late goals in Athlone saw the league leaders draw 3-3 with Shamrock Rovers, blowing the title race wide open between Athlone and Shelbourne who effectively ended Galway's ambitions with a Kate Mooney strike in a single goal game in Eamonn Deacy Park live of TG4. Elsewhere Sligo Rovers scored late to extended their unbeaten run with a 1-1 day at home to Peamount but they have since parted ways with their manager Tommy Hewitt ahead of their trip to Cork on Saturday. Wexford came from behind to comfortably defeat Bohemians at Dalymount while DLR secured a rare away win Turner's Cross. Breifne Earley and Aaron discuss all the action as well as setting up this weekend's potential title decider for Athlone.…
Athlone secured a vital win this evening to take a five point lead at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Table with just three rounds of games to go and could wrap up the title as early as Saturday evening. Brenda Tabe's double secured a key three points in the race for the title and the European football on offer to the champions. Of course Athlone also secured their third consecutive FAI Women's Cup final berth with a 1-0 victory in The Showgrounds over Sligo Rovers on Sunday afternoon. Breifne Earley and Aaron Clarke (The WNL Show) will be chatting about the run in for all three sides ahead of a big weekend where Galway and Shels meet with at least one of them eliminated from the race by Saturday evening. A draw in Galway coupled with a victory for Athlone at home to Shamrock Rovers would see the Midlanders secure the trophy.…

43:36This week the league title race really got underway with wins for Athlone Town and Galway United as saw them skip ahead of Shelbourne as Peamount came from behind to secure all three points at home to Bohemians with a scorcher from Niamh Farrelly sealing the win at the death. DLR will be disappointed to have capitulated under the challenge of Galway in Belfield as Sligo Rovers left it late to take a point home from the battle of the Rovers at Tallaght as an early Shamrock Rovers goal promised much for the home side. Cork City will be happy with their home draw with Wexford who face live now without Ellen Molloy who made the move across the Irish sea in recent week. Breifne Earley and Aaron Clarke (The WNL Show) will also be previewing the FAI Women's Cup Semi Finals which take place this weekend.…

59:34It's a slightly somber show this week after the broadcast of the 'Girls in Green' documentary on Sunday. After a two year investigation by journalists Marie Crowe (RTE Investigates) and Mark Tighe (Sunday Independent), horrific allegations of inappropriate behaviour within the inaugural FAI Women's FAS course in Leixlip in the 1990's have been levelled at a number of coaches involved in that course. Breifne Earley and Aaron Clarke share their thoughts on the documentary, the allegations and what it means for the future of the women's game and some of the steps now needed to ensure events like this can not happen again in the sport. There was also the small matter of some football played this week with big 1-0 wins for Bohemians and Cork City over Galway United and Peamount United respectively. Athlone stretched their lead at the top of the league while Shamrock Rovers continued their resurrence with a solid 3-1 win in Limerick. The focus turns to the WNT clashes with England and France and the U19 European Championships over the coming weeks. At home this weekend, DLR Waves host Treaty United and Bohemians visit Turner's Cross in what all camps will see as winnable games.…
Treaty United CEO Ciara McCormack drops in to discuss how the season is going for her side this year.
