Welcome to the first episode of a new series called Rooting. These series are about returning to the ancient wisdom of Celtic and Slavic people - learning how they celebrated important points in the year and, more importantly, looking at lessons and small traditions that we can implement in our modern life. This episode is about the coming of spring. The halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox is called Imbolc in Celtic tradition and Gromnica in Slavic. Learn about the mythology of both celebrations, ancient traditions and more modern interpretations that you can implement in your life. In this episode, Jana is chatting with Janine Noblett, who is an ex-dancer, fitness coach, studio owner, corporate manager and presenter. Now a Health Coach who specialises in Iyengar Yoga with twenty-five years of experience in helping many people to transform their mindset, body, and their whole life. She previously trained in Ballet and Contemporary Dance before moving into the fitness industry as a coach, assessor, and professional educator. Janine’s Iyengar journey began following a car crash which left her with lower back, pelvic and neck issues, and this made it hard to continue teaching the high-impact classes she was used to. After a long stretch of physiotherapy sessions which didn’t improve her health or mobility, Janine was told she would have to live in pain and receive pain management. With an understanding of how the body moved, along with knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics, she turned to self-care. After trying many different yoga styles she fell in love with the Iyengar method and began her yoga journey. This passion grew as Janine felt first-hand, the physical benefits and noticed an improvement in her mental health too. Janine continues with meditation teaching and practises mindfulness as part of the mental and spiritual journey of yoga. Main topics: Janine’s journey through exploring ways to work Lessons learned going through the pandemic about changing, adapting and pivoting to our environment Simplifying life instead of complicating it and letting go of the constant chase for the more daily hustle Re-connecting with nature Bringing ourselves back into our bodies and connecting mind and body Different trauma that we carry through our entire lives Learning how to appreciate our bodies and learn to love them just as they are The transformation that yoga brings Connect with Janine and the books mentioned: Janine’s website https://yogaplacenorth.co.uk Instagram https://www.instagram.com/yogaplacenorth/ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/yogaplacenorth/ When the Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress by Dr Gabor Mate https://uk.bookshop.org/a/5756/9781785042225 Body keeps the score by Bessel van der Kolk https://uk.bookshop.org/a/5756/9780141978611 You can connect with Jana: Instagram www.instagram.com/janapuisa/ Newsletter www.janapuisa.com/newsletter Website www.janapuisa.com Email address info@janapuisa.com Thank you for listening, Jana…

Are we lazy or just really tired? Often what we label as being ‘lazy’ is hiding something very different behind it. What is lazy? A negative label that we often attach to ourselves Incredibly subjective thing - what is lazy for one, is the normal way of being for others Often is attached to our self-worth - if I am busy I am a worthy human Roots in capitalism where the human is only worth how much they can produce Is it actually laziness? What often hides behind procrastination - being too scared to start something new, to put ourselves out there, the fear of being vulnerable sometimes what we are trying to force ourselves to do - is something that we really don’t like doing can’t concentrate on anything, so keep abandoning tasks and starting something new. This episode will bring a new perspective to laziness and will help you to move forward.
