Immersed in a rich heritage of classical music, Waqas was meticulously trained by his father, the acclaimed sitar virtuoso Imdad Hussain. He has admirably upheld and advanced his family's legacy, adding his own contemporary flair to the traditional art form. Waqas's sitar playing is characterized by a harmonious blend of Eastern classical music with Western musical elements, creating a unique and captivating sound.
Waqas’s talent extends beyond solo performances. He is a key founding member of the Sufi-fusion group, Sounds of Kolachi, and has contributed his sitar prowess as a guest artist with groups like The D/A Method and Cosmic Fluid, as well as in the Coke Studio Sessions. Presently, Waqas is a vital part of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s live touring ensemble, showcasing his skill on an international stage.
