What would you do if you realized you’d hit the ceiling of your potential in your home country?

Welcome back to another episode of Thinking That Matters! I’m truly excited to introduce you to someone extraordinary today—Patricia Pimentel, a woman who dared to dream beyond the limitations placed on her and embodies the essence of resilience, faith, and transformation.

Patricia’s life began in Cuba, where she faced the harsh realities of living under a communist regime. Even with certain privileges, she quickly realized that she was hitting the ceiling of what was possible in her homeland. So, Patricia made the brave decision to leave, first moving to Canada, and later to the United States, in search of greater opportunities and a better life.

In Cuba, Patricia was a professional violinist, but she chose to start fresh in America. After pursuing her education, she became a Certified Public Accountant and is now a successful auditor at KPMG.

In this episode, Patricia opens up about the emotional challenges she faced—leaving her family behind, adjusting to a new culture, and the perseverance required to rebuild her life from scratch. We discuss the stark contrast between the limited opportunities in Cuba and the freedom and possibilities she’s discovered in America. Through it all, her faith has been her anchor, especially during a difficult divorce, where she learned to let go and trust in God’s plan.

Patricia also shares invaluable insights on cultivating thinking that matters. She encourages us to stay rooted in our core values, be discerning in a world full of information, and embrace change as we pursue our dreams.
