Hormone therapy in menopause, gender-affirming care, and sexual pain disorders! This episode is with OBGYN Dr. Gretchen Frey. She has a new project out now! An Introduction to Sexuality Education: A Handbook for Primary Care Providers. Get it now at https://v3.unhushed.org/ She talks about how she worked as a general OBGYN for many years, then as she transitioned away from OB and focused on clinic GYN she saw a lot of patients in menopause and peri-menopause. She became comfortable using hormone replacement therapy in that context and then expanded her practice to incorporate hormone therapy in gender-affirming care as well (which she says there is a great need for this type of care in primary care, particularly in Denver where I am at). She discusses sexual pain disorders such as vulvodynia, dyspareunia, and vaginismus, and why they can be difficult to treat. She notes that having a multi-specialty team is greatly important for success in this. Subscribe, rate, review, etc. Check out past episodes and don't forget to share it with a friend. Thanks! Direct Primary Care! Dr. Brie Seefeldt is an awesome guest on the podcast. She talks about how she got out of the world of corporate medicine to start her own small, independent practice that functions as direct primary care (DPC), circumventing insurance and giving her patients quality time and quality care. She talks about the details regarding DPC and how it functions. We hit on other topics such as osteopathy in general, and how she uses OMT. Funny enough, she trained in family medicine at the very program that I will train at! Shout out to Swedish Medical Center. So that's very fun. Check out her website for Direct Osteopathic Primary Care: https://www.mydenverdo.com/ Reach out to her and tell her you heard her on the Primary Care Podcast! Leave a rating and a review! Thanks!…

Business of Medicine! Releasing this just after the Match, so I hope everyone is in high spirits with no stress at all in their lives! Today's episode is with Marcia Brauchler, a business consultant for physicians. She is the owner and founder of Physicians' Ally, a consulting firm that helps physicians negotiate contracts with insurance companies so they can realize their maximum worth and value as providers. We talk extensively about contract negotiation, coding and billing, and compliance. Believe me, this is an exciting topic because so little of what she does in her world is taught to physicians anywhere in their training process. She loves to work with doctors of all kinds to help them not only get reimbursed what they are worth, but in doing so, also deliver better care to their patients. In 2020, Marcia launched a partnership with the University of Denver to teach her CPC Exam Prep Coding Class. Hope you enjoy! Great episode. Enjoy.…

Integrative medicine time! Psychedelic ayahuasca experiences in Peru, chanting with monks in Tibet, performing sound therapy and ketamine therapy in Colorado, working for Kaiser, being Chief Resident and then faculty for a FM residency program, starting a solo practice, and thoughts about the modern American healthcare system. This is an interesting one! Dr. Grover is a family medicine trained primary care physician who sees patients in his small private practice in Denver. He was formerly in the space of more conventional primary care medicine working for Kaiser, and as faculty for FM residents. Now he runs a highly integrative practice incorporating techniques and practices from all over the globe ranging from sound therapy to ketamine and many more. He received his MD from University of Louisville School of Medicine, and completed residency in Family Medicine at University of Colorado Family Medicine Program at Rose Hospital where he was chief resident. He is board certified in Anti-aging and Regenerative Medicine, also in Holistic Medicine. He is the recipient of several teaching and professional awards. She has worn many hats throughout her career and we talk about many of them including being a team physician, a PCP, a sports med specialist, ultrasound guru, and a preceptor for residents. Speaking of residents, be sure to check out the previous 3 episodes which are with resident physicians talking about applying to residency and being a resident in family and internal medicine. You can listen on any podcast platform including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and plenty more. Thanks friends, hope you enjoy.…
