After starting her career in the fashion world, Sarah Wetenhall never expected to enter the hospitality industry. Yet, in 2016 Sarah and her husband became the owners of the iconic Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Leading the business forward as CEO, she has reimagined the Colony, aptly referred to as Pink Paradise, for a new age – enhancing the hotel’s unique spirit while honoring its longstanding legacy. Through the blending of thoughtfully designed amenities and incomparable services, Sarah has created the ultimate luxury Palm Beach experience for every guest no matter how long their stay. In this interview, we discuss what Sarah took away from her time working at Calvin Klein, the story behind The Colony Hotel, and navigating life’s juggling acts while still moving forward.
Don’t miss this episode where we talk about:

  • The beginning of Sarah’s career and the importance of being open to every learning opportunity in those early jobs
  • Sarah’s positions at Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, and Harrison & Shriftman, and what she learned about branding and marketing strategy
  • How Sarah learned the hospitality industry from scratch and in the moment after buying the Colony
  • Creating the Colony’s new image, taking hold of opportunities for messaging, especially on social media, and how even the most minute details contribute to creating a cohesive brand environment
  • Balancing family and work life, doing what you can, and learning that sometimes it’s okay to make sacrifices
