The Dudes speak with Susan Kershaw, who is running in a hotly contested race for Board of Trustees, Place 5 in the Frisco, TX Independent School District. Susan shares her passion for the school district, it's teachers and administrators, and the city of Frisco itself. She outlines her concerns and reasons for entering the race. Her story will resonate with many parents all over the country who share the same concerns about their school districts.
She has been a resident of Frisco for 17 years and Texas for 25 years. She and her husband have been married for 18 years and have two children who currently attend FISD Middle School.
Susan is a first-generation college graduate from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing in 1994. She is also a registered nurse with the Texas Board of Nursing and worked as a Surgical/Trauma ICU RN at Level 1 Trauma Center Methodist Dallas Medical Center for 12 years. Currently, she works as a legal nurse expert on a contract basis.
Susan has been actively involved in her community since 2002. She is a member of Stonebriar Community Church and has volunteered at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and Cat Matchers. She has served as a committee member, committee chair, volunteer, and donor for various organizations, including the Frisco Soccer Association, BSA Cub Scouts, BSA Scouts, FISD Middle School PTA, FISD Band Booster Club, Denton County Election Official, Provisional Member of the National Charity League, and FISD Library Materials Reconsideration Committee.
