Special counsel Jack Smith has filed a superseding indictment in the Jan. 6 case against former President Donald Trump. The new indictment maintains the same charges, but narrows down the allegations against Trump. The former president has pleaded not guilty but will have to enter a new plea for the revised indictment. Prosecutors and Trump’s lawyers will return to court next week for the case’s first hearing in months.

SpaceX’s historic Polaris Dawn mission has been delayed once again—this time because of bad weather. SpaceX plans to conduct the first-ever private spacewalk and gather data from dozens of experiments during the mission.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan arrived in Beijing for a three-day visit on Aug. 27. He and Chinese officials are focusing on the U.S.–China relationship, including advancing counter-narcotics cooperation, military-to-military communication, and discussing AI safety and risk.
