The State Fair, An American Tradition
Manage episode 375940780 series 2856130
As summer comes to a close I am always reminded of Wilbur the pig in the E.B White classic Charlotte's Web. Wilber who is save by Charlotte at the county fair.
Every year throughout the summer most states celebrate all they have to offer with a State Fair. There are also County Fairs to show off all a specific region has to offer. I can only speak to the New York State Fair, that showcases bands, produce, animals, rides, games, our Native American culture, and yes lots of fried things, onions dough, cookies, pickles, potato's. Lot's of rides to loose you fried food on, and of course games. The end of a summer tradition. In this region it is mainly an Upstate thing, and when I say Upstate I do not mean Westchester County. Ask someone on Broadway about the New York State Fair and they will shake their head as they breeze on by. Time to eat a sausage sandwich and watch the horse show!!
