This episode of Double Tap is brought to you by: Brownells, Safe Life Defense, Swampfox Optics, XTech Tactical, Mitchell Defense, and Matador Arms Welcome to Double Tap, episode 393! Your hosts tonight are Jeremy Pozderac, Aaron Krieger, Nick Lynch, and me Shawn Herrin, welcome to the show! Dear WLS Desert D Deagleton - Do any of you know if current production Mini 14s all have the same barrel profile? Trying to figure out which model would be best for chopping to 13.5 cause AC556 clone at home. Fisher - Hey guys my local gun store has a RBD that I got to mess around with and it felt very nice in my hands, what is your opinions about the reliability of the keltec RBD and is it worth spending the 1200 that it’s priced at? It has a nice primary arms optic and a surefire grip with a light attached to it Josh R - what is the best compounds or grits for smoothing rough gun parts Kunny Lingus - With the added benefit of a .355 over the 300 blk, why is subsonic 350 legend not more popular? Same bolt size as .223 and 300 blk. Plus, with a chamber conversion like the 22lr conversion kits you could easily shoot 9 mm through the same rifle, why isn’t that a thing? Thanks, Kunny L Bob Wehadababyitsaboy - I've recently changed out the red dot mount on my home defense rifle for a Parker Mountain Machine Redrum mount, which I absolutely love. It puts the center of the dot at 1.87 inches, which I'm finding to be the perfect height to raise my head up a bit without completely giving up a check/chin weld. However, it is high enough to prevent cowitnessing BUIS through the optic but not tall enough to have BUIS work under the optic and through the mount. I've always had BUIS on my home defense rifle, but with this mount they are useless. The mount doesn't have a QD release, and I don't think removing an optic quickly in a fight is a realistic scenario anyway. Normally, I understand visible lasers on fighting rifles are inefficient compared to other sighting systems and are generally discouraged. However, this setup has me thinking that a visible laser would be a decent replacement for BUIS, as the optic mount height would be irrelevant, there would be no need to take the optic off in the event of a failure, and it allows for quick activation of a secondary sighting method if needed. Obvious downsides would be needing to worry about batteries and the added weight at the end of the rifle. What do you all think? Thank you and sorry if Aaron was the one who ended up reading/stumbling his way through this. No notes. DukeOfCrude - Hey fam, So during all this New Jersey drone scare, I got to thinking; is a 22 cal rifle better than a shotgun for shooting drones? Not like everyone would have access to a p90, American 180, or a full auto 10/22. But would the reach of a 22 cal projectile give it a leg up over like #7 bird shot? Thanks for the great content! Duke Mitch C - Where has Savage been? Can you guys say why he has been MIA for years or is it personal reasons you can’t air out? I just listened to you guys have your grievances and you all called him a cuck so it sounds like it’s not a serious issue. I don’t know if I missed you say why he’s gone or if you haven’t said anything about it. Just curious (bi-curious). If you have already answered this question I’ll go ahead and kill my self.
