29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discriminating and recognizing with due appreciation that [it is Christ’s] body, eats and drinks a sentence (a verdict of judgment) upon himself.
“Judgement” in this verse is a Greek word, meaning divine sentence – it does not always mean hell. In this context, it is referring to sickness. Jesus is not cursing His people with sickness. Sickness, poverty, sorrow, are all a result of Adam’s sin – it’s not a Jesus blessing.
