Without better technology, nephrologists can’t catch acute kidney injury early enough to prevent it. We recently caught up with Dr. Michael Heung to talk about the challenges of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in Critical Care Medicine and what is needed to tackle them. After finishing his Internal Medicine training at the University of Cincinnati Hospitals, he completed Fellowship training in Nephrology at the University of Michigan Health System. He has been a member of the University of Michigan faculty since 2005, and currently serves as Associate Division Chief for Clinical Affairs in the Division of Nephrology. His primary clinical and research interests are in the areas of acute kidney injury and critical care nephrology.
