Today, those same cars change hands under the bright lights of an auction tent, and the whole car world is watching them command millions of dollars.
It's a big business, but it wouldn't exist without the seemingly boundless devotion of buyers eager to own and drive these machines. "What price glory?" they might say.
David Gooding is the founder of Gooding & Company. He's been an enthusiast, collector and purveyor of the world's finest automobiles for decades.
In this episode, he returns to the show to give an insider's perspective on a year's worth of auctions, highlighting some particular cars and what makes them great- as well as some insights on valuations, buying and selling, and the sometimes unpredictable moves in the market.
