Luke 5:37-39 "And no one puts new wine into old wineskins, or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined."
To successfully move forward into the “new” means we must be willing to let go of some of the old. Old habits, mindsets, grudges, old ways, and so on. If we don’t, all that God has intended for us we will have caused to come to ruin.
A new year is a great time to wipe our slates clean. Going into a new year, we set goals and make resolutions, and we commonly set our desires on the abundance of things, love, and peace.
Many of us eagerly anticipate a sense of “greater” as we seek fulfillment and direction. We recently exchanged gifts with those dear to us, but it is important to remember that true fulfillment and purpose are among God’s greatest gifts. To position ourselves to receive His gifts, we are reminded in the word of God to prioritize seeking His kingdom above all else.
As we seek the Kingdom of God, we cannot bask in the glory of the Kingdom of God without acknowledging what is dirty, what is messy, and what is improper according to the mandate of God in our own lives.
Cleaning our slates is a three-step process; first, recognize the dirt and the need for it to be cleaned. The second step is applying the presoak solution, which asks for God’s forgiveness, and the third is applying the main cleaning agent, repentance.
