Heather Brasell of the Gaskins Forest Education Center and Dr. Vanessa Lane of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College release rare gopher frogs in a wetland in Irwin County, Georgia. The frogs are raised in captivity and released in the habitat of the gopher tortoise, the sandy terraine of South Georgia. The gopher frogs need wetlands to breed but the live their lives in the dry and sandy soil of the longleaf pine forest, residing in the burrows of the gopher tortoise. Brasell and Lane are part of an effort to restore the frogs to this habitat. Reporting the story is Sydney Doss, a student at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
