Mistakes followed by errors, followed by more mistakes did the Philadelphia Phillies in as they took a 3-1 loss to the Cleveland Guardians Friday night.

The first four inning of this ballgame were tough to watch for Phillies fans. It was just plain ugly! The term little league baseball comes to mind. The Phillies failed to finish off two pickoff attempts, in which they had runners caught in no-man’s land, but failed to record the punchouts and allowed the runner to get in scoring position. Trea Turner had trouble throwing to first base and would have had two errors of his own, had it not been for Bryce Harper’s ability to hold the bag.

Aside from a lack of focus in the field, the Phillies bats were kept at bay throughout the game. They managed just 6 hits in total, 3 of them came by way of Bryson Stott, who finished the day with not only half the Phillies’ hits, but also drove in their only run with a 416ft solo homer to right field.

Cristopher Sanchez started for the Phillies and tossed 6 innings allowing 3 runs, all earned.
