When you get on an aeroplane the announcer always reminds us 'in the event of an emergency feed yourself the oxygen first' This is because you can't help anyone if you are drained and have nothing to give.

We may want to help everyone, but first, we have to help ourselves. Otherwise, we give from a place of resentment and our good deeds become soiled and we do not achieve the outcome we intended.

If you want to help the world, then start with yourself and then reach out to those around you from a place of abundance. We sometimes want to change the world and yet our homes are cluttered and could do with some rearranging and those furnishings could do with a shine. Start where you are.

What's going on in your inner environment? The home of your soul!

  • What do you believe about yourself?
  • Is your self-talk healthy and uplifting or negative and full of put-downs?
  • What are you consuming on an emotional/mental level?
  • What foods are you consuming?
  • Have you incorporated regular exercise into your list of activities or do you live a sedentary life?
  • Do you have lots of energy throughout the day or do you feel wiped and, drained most days of the week?

When you believe the best about yourself and have mostly positive thoughts and self-talk and consume good nutritious information, beverages and food, you are more likely to be feeling good and what comes through you will be a gift to others.

You first have to decide what self-love and self-care look like to you. Give yourself the first part of the day, maybe 20 minutes or even an hour or more if you have time luxury.

It may look like this in the order that suits you:

  • Gratitude
  • Breathwork
  • Silence, solitude & stillness
  • Drink water
  • Walk (or any form of exercise)
  • Shower
  • Stretching throughout the day
  • Breakfast or (continue fast - intermittent fasting)
  • Work
  • Lunch
  • Walk
  • Work
  • Home (Family time)
  • Journal
  • Bath
  • Meditation

You may be thinking yeah right in a perfect world! You don't need to be a self-love and self-care specialist - just start where you are. That is just a guideline of the daily gifts you can give to yourself, Just start with one or two and work your way up or create a self-care - self-love routine of your own. See where you can free up some time to give back to yourself.

You are worth it, you deserve it - take time out for you to do things that matter to you or things that make you feel good. Jump on the swings in the part or splash around in a puddle, play hop-scotch (if you remember what that is!!!!)

Just have fun on the way to your destination.
