In this conversation, Marty shares heartfelt and actionable advice for anyone out there who has an Alzheimer’s patient in their life or community. He explains how Alzheimer’s isn’t a ‘chicken casserole disease’ and how not only the patient, but also the caregivers, need loving and specific support as they navigate this often lonely, difficult journey. Marty discusses the idea of ‘therapeutic fibbing’ and how family and friends can learn to enter in and adapt to the new world of a loved one battling Alzheimer’s. Marty also describes the unique publishing process that led to ‘My Two Elaines’; it’s a story of perseverance and the ability of an important message to take root and grow, no matter what.
