This temple is considered one of the most beautiful and well-preserved temples in all of Egypt. It was built during the reign of Seti I in the 13th century BCE and is dedicated to the god Osiris, the god of the underworld and rebirth. The temple is adorned with intricate carvings and colorful murals that depict scenes from Egyptian mythology, including the famous Abydos King List, a list of Egyptian pharaohs that dates back to the 19th dynasty. Another mystery of Abydos is the Osireion, an underground tomb built during the reign of Seti I. Another mystery of Abydos is the presence of the so-called "Abydos helicopter." This is a carving that resembles a modern-day helicopter and is found on the walls of the Temple of Seti I. Some people believe that this carving is evidence of ancient technology or extraterrestrial visitation, while others believe it is simply a result of erosion and the natural wear and tear of the stone. Abydos is also known for its vast cemetery, where many of the pharaohs and their families were buried. The most famous of these tombs is the tomb of Seti I, which was discovered in 1817.
