Hardly anyone represented the rise of the Chinese tech industry as much as the former English teacher from Hangzhou. In October 2020, however, he had to go into hiding because he had made a speech harshly criticizing Xi Jinping and the Communist Party. He had already resigned as chairman of the company in 2019 on his 55th birthday.
As the "Financial Times" now reports, Jack Ma has started a new life outside of China: He has been living in Japan's capital Tokyo for a good six months.
