Los Angeles (dpa) - Action star Sylvester Stallone ("Rocky") reportedly suffered from significant self-doubt when he struggled to find jobs in the early 2000s. "I felt so useless," said the 77-year-old to his daughters Sophia (27) and Sistine (25) on their podcast "Unwaxed." "I was ashamed to be your father."
The actor, who achieved great success in the 1970s and 1980s with films like "Rocky" and "Rambo," described a difficult period about 20 years ago to his daughters. "I thought I was done for good. The phone didn't ring," Stallone said. "You didn't even know how I was making money." His daughters recalled that Stallone spent the entire day watching movies during that time.
Stallone eventually made a comeback with the fourth film in the "Rocky" series in 2006. He also believes that his challenging life phase made him more sensitive and "a significantly better actor," according to Stallone.
