Title: I Know a Guy
Date: 3/27/22
Location: Perris Valley Church
Acts 9:26-31 (NLT)
When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to meet with the believers, but they were all afraid of him. They did not believe he had truly become a believer!
Acts 4:32-37 (NLT)
All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. 34 There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them 35 and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. 36 For instance, there was Joseph, the one the apostles nicknamed Barnabas (which means “Son of Encouragement”). He was from the tribe of Levi and came from the island of Cyprus. 37 He sold a field he owned and brought the money to the apostles.
Acts 9:27 (NLT)
Then Barnabas brought him to the apostles and told them how Saul had seen the Lord on the way to Damascus and how the Lord had spoken to Saul. He also told them that Saul had preached boldly in the name of Jesus in Damascus.
Everyone needs to “know a guy.” You are the someone who somebody else needs to know.
Proverbs 16:24 (ESV)
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (ESV)
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (ESV)
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
Ephesians 4:29 (ESV)
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Your voice is designed to lift others up.
Acts 9:28 (NLT)
So Saul stayed with the apostles and went all around Jerusalem with them, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord.
Although you don’t see it yet, someone needs you right now.
Acts 9:29 (NLT)
He debated with some Greek-speaking Jews, but they tried to murder him.
Acts 9:30 (NLT)
When the believers heard about this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him away to Tarsus, his hometown.
Acts 9:31 (NLT)
The church then had peace throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, and it became stronger as the believers lived in the fear of the Lord. And with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it also grew in numbers.
Your encouragement to someone else is a small part of a big plan, but that small part is a very important part.
