Alig's flamboyant personality and outrageous parties made him a central figure in the city's club culture, characterized by its extravagant costumes and hedonistic atmosphere. However, his fame took a dark turn in 1996 when he was convicted of the m-rder of fellow club kid Andre "Angel" Melendez. Alig and his roommate, Robert "Freeze" Riggs, k-ll-d Melendez in a brutal altercation fueled by drugs.
