The South African Institute of Taxation says the current beer tax policy may do more harm than good to the economy and consumers. This follows after a recent report commissioned by SAB and undertaken by Oxford Economics Africa found that existing excise duties on beer are far above the levels stipulated in the country’s excise policy, hitting the beer industry.
