This week we were unbelievably excited to chat with writer and director Mark Anthony Green! We talk about his feature film debut Opus, working with musical icons The-Dream and Nile Rodgers, Ayo Edebiri's star power and the eccentricities (and graciousness) of John Malkovich. Mark Anthony shares a fantastic story of John on set and so much more before we dig a bit into his horror history and find out why Michael Jackson's Thriller music video scared him as a kid. A shorter episode this week, but easily one of our favorite conversations in a long while. Don't miss it. And go see Opus in theaters! Follow Mary Beth , Terry and the Podcast on Bluesky. This week we're so excited to chat with Dan Berk and Robert Olsen! They are the writers/directors of Villains and Significant Other and their latest film, Novocaine is coming out Friday the 14th of March! We talk about making an action film where the character can't feel pain, inspirations and more. Then Terry HAD to talk to them briefly about one of the wild narrative shifts in Significant Other (Please go watch; it's on Paramount+). If you know Terry's love of a specific kind of horror, you might guess the part...and they share a WILD story about coming up with that sequence and then filming it. Then we go back to Hellraiser and find out why it was their Scarred for Life pick. Dan and Bobby are not on social media, but check out Novocaine on March 14th! This was supposed to go out Friday. Whoops. We were supposed to have an episode Monday. Whoops. It's 2025, y'all and while we start out like a normal (?) Little Cuts episode, by the end of it...well, it's poop and pee and buckets. The (productive) things we discuss: Memories of Murder (4K Blu Ray) The Monkey (Theatrical) Lost Records: Bloom & Rage (Video Game) And then it's haunting commercials...because why not. Follow Mary Beth , Terry and the Podcast on Bluesky. We’re also on Twitter (sorta) with the same usernames. We also have a Letterboxd HQ account , so follow us there, too! Support us on Patreon ! This week we're joined by poet and writer Blayne Waterloo! We chat with them about their poetry and Salon Sinister, their queer horror zine that's currently accepting pitches. We find out their horror history and then revisit the IT Miniseries to see why it terrified them growing up. This episode is a great companion piece to Episode 161 with Bobby Torrez, because we talk a lot here about queerness, otherness and our relationship to King as well as the miniseries. You can follow Blayne on Bluesky and Tiktok . Check out their site where you can get information on their newsletter. And pitch something to Salon Sinister ! This week we're so excited to chat with writer and director Drew Hancock about his fantastic and twisty horror film Companion. Spoiler alert: we talk about the first big reveal of the film so we're going to include time stamps below. We chat about working with the fantastic cast, the impetus for writing the film, the way everything came together and more before digging into Drew's horror history. We talk about how he got into horror and more before finding out why The Shining terrified him as a kid...and true to the twisty Companion, there's not one but two third act twists in this story. Find out exactly why this was his pick and for those who listened to the first time we covered the show (waaay back on Episode 27)...hold onto your butts... Spoiler time stamps: If you've seen the trailer and marketing, you don't have to skip anything. 5:30 - 8:00 16:30-23:00 At 23:00 we stop talking about Companion and focus on his horror history. So if you don't want anything spoiled, you're free after that. But again, if you've seen the marketing and if you've seen the trailer...that's all we spoil. This is coming from Terry who went in knowing nothing about the film and was blown away by the first reveal. So if you are like me and know nothing about the film...just please go see it and walk in as blind as you can. But if you've seen the trailer/marketing, know that that's all we spoil. It's a little later than we wanted, but 2024 doesn't end until we say it does! This week we're releasing our annual Best of the Year! We talk about some of our favorite moments in horror from the year, reminisce on a couple of our favorite episodes, discuss a couple non-film horror things, talk about the ones that just didn't make the top 10. And then we count down our favorites. Will Terry cry? Will Misu make her appearance and terrify us both...you'll have to listen to find out. Also excuse the audio...we had a couple instances where the audio picked up ambient noise and it was impossible to get rid of. If you enjoyed what we did in 2024, please leave us a review on your podcast app of choice. It really helps us out. Follow Mary Beth , Terry and the Podcast on Twitter.
