Text me 30 second interviews of you asking people “whats it take to be a man”
Im not a wine or beer connoisseur by any means… I in fact don’t like the taste of alcohol at all… but still even outside of that… to learn how to brew beer or grow grapes and make wine… I think I would rather watch paint dry.
John 2:1-11
1 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
4 “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.
7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
DO you want the supernatural, the miraculous in your life… lets first ask how and then we will ask what it possible.
How?
A miracle… here is the set up. A request was made… and then obedience. Not for the sake of showing off or a personal need, but rather for a friend that shouldn’t have to look bad in the eyes of others. Running out of wine would be like running out of food at your wedding party, oh and the music stops, the lights go off etc… Wine was the symbol of celebration and of joy for the couple… half of your guests weren’t served and the other half would have to eat the stale pretzels at the bar… no music, no lights, no dancing, no nothing… not much of a celebration. Thats what no wine meant in this context…
But Mary makes a request… and then more than the request itself she looks to the servants and says “do whatever he says”. That is the secret right there… its not the request its doing whatever he says to do after the request is made.
How many people miss the miracle not because they lacked the ask… but they lacked the obedience.
But when you combine the ask and the obedience…
Watch what happens… what the miracle really stood for - as his first miracle - was that he could transcend and supersede all natural, spiritual and physical laws.
He could usurp and discard the laws of nature, time, knowledge, agriculture, wisdom, work and networking.
What do I mean… well what does it take to produce the best wine ever?
- It takes a supreme knowledge. To fully learn winemaking, including both viticulture (grape growing) and enology (wine production), typically takes around 2-3 years through a dedicated program at a university level, which usually involves a bachelor's degree in viticulture and enology, plus years of hands-on experience through internships in a winery;
- It takes years of time for grapevines to mature and grow the right grapes. It will take about 8 years for a vineyard to mature to grow a award winning wine. Plus aging the wine in bottles or vats for years more after that.
- It takes seasons of sun, rain and harvest… the right conditions for quite a few years in a row.
- It takes laws of agriculture with weeding, fertilizer, insect and pest protection.
- It took a network of people picking the grapes, crushing the grapes, containing the wine… aging the wine, testing the wine and then getting it to the wedding party.
And lets not forget that he miraculously created 180 gallons of the finest wine they had tasted. the master of the banquet was the head server or chief steward who was responsible for the arrangements and execution of a wedding or feast- he has tasted wine for years… he is an expert.
Give God your request… obey his commands- not just his written commands, but his still small voice that speaks to you - begin to walk in obedience- and watch him bypass all things that should be stopping it in the natural and the supernatural and watch your life turn miraculous.
