#95 Finding Hope: A Journey from Control to Surrender with Rita Townsend
Manage episode 449610557 series 3560181
In this episode of Thinking That Matters, I’m thrilled to welcome back my dear friend, Rita Townsend. Rita is a passionate Mary Kay sales director, who has spent the last 15 years helping others discover the beauty of skincare and self-care. From her early days as a U.S. Marine working on avionic electronics to becoming a successful entrepreneur in the beauty industry, Rita’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.
Rita opened up about her personal health challenges, including celiac disease and autoimmune disorders, and how they’ve deepened her commitment to wellness and empathy for her clients. Her in-home “Beautiful Warrior Studio” embodies her dedication to creating a supportive, welcoming space where everyone can feel beautiful and cared for.
In our conversation, we explored the power of hope. Rita believes hope is essential, especially in a world that often feels chaotic. She shared how many people lose hope when facing adversity, and her own experiences have taught her the importance of surrendering control and remembering a higher purpose.
We also discussed maintaining faith during hard times, and Rita offered practical advice on nurturing hope—like starting the day with quiet time and prayer. She reminded us that what we feed our minds and the company we keep can greatly influence our outlook.
One of the most powerful insights Rita shared was on fear and control. She described how fear often arises from a desire to control outcomes and how true peace comes from trusting in a greater purpose. Using the metaphor of a house on fire, she illustrated the value of focusing on blessings rather than losses.
