A: Bonjour John, ça va ? J: Hola Aurora, bien y tu? A: Je vais bien, merci. Goal : To explore vocabulary, expressions, and structures related to getting fuel at the gas station. Dialogue Context: Aurore and John meet at a gas station before going to the park. Format : We will go through the dialogue once in French and Spanish at normal conversational speed and then a second time with a detailed explanation. A Merci de me rejoindre à la station-essence (Thank you for meeting me at the gas station) J Claro que sí, es una buena idea tanquear antes de nuestro viaje. (Of course, it’s a good idea to fill up before our trip) A: Je dois faire le plein (I must fill up) Comment dit-on ça en Espagnol ? (how do you say that in Spanish) J: Necesito llenar mi tanque. (I need to fill up my tank). A Quel type d’essence tu prends pour ton camion ?(what type of gas does your truck use) Ma voiture prend de l’ordinaire (my car takes regular) J Mi camión necesita diesel. (My truck needs diesel.) A Ton réservoir d’essence doit être du côté droit puisque tu t’es garé à gauche de la pompe à essence: Le mien est à gauche. Tu vois, je me suis garée à droite de la pompe à essence.(your gas tank must be on the right side because you parked on the left of the gas pump. Mine is on the left. You see, I parked on the right side of the gas pump) J Si, tienes razón. Buena observación. Mi tanque esta a la derecha. Bueno, necesito ir adentro y pagar con efectivo (Yes, you’re right. Good observation. My tank is on the right. OK, I must go inside to pay with cash) A Tu vas à l’intérieur pour payer avec du liquide? D’accord. Moi, Je vais payer avec ma carte de crédit à la pompe en la glissant dans le lecteur de carte. (you go inside to pay with cash? OK. Me, I’m going to pay with my credit card at the pump sliding it in the card later) J: Bueno, y también necesito ir al baño. (OK, I also need to go to the restroom). A Tu veux que je nettoie tes vitres pendant que tu vas à l’intérieur ? Je vois qu’elles sont très sales, et je dois nettoyer les miennes. Veux-tu que je fasse les tiennes ?
