When Rusev debuted in WWE he got a big push, in his first year he won the WWE United States title and at WrestleMania 31 he faced John Cena. Rusev, with Lana by his side, was a classic wrestling foreign heel updated for modern WWE, and it seemed that they wanted him as a main event superstar. But then, things started to go south very quickly indeed.
