This week on The About Her Podcast, I chatted with Gracilynn Hanson about the ontological question, "What is a Woman?". Gracilynn is a wife and a mom of two boys, and she and her family currently live in Austin, Texas. She recently completed her PhD at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, located in Louisville, KY. Today we discuss the subject of her dissertation, formally titled: Establishing a Framework for Female-Gendered Embodiment in a Redemptive Context.

Don’t worry, she thoroughly breaks down this academic title throughout the episode, but if we were to sum up the content of this dissertation in a single question, that question would be: What is a Woman? Specifically, Gracilynn addresses this question from an ontological perspective and evaluates the intrinsic nature of the female. She focuses less on what women do and, instead, gives attention to what the Scriptures say we are. She traces what is true of women in our intrinsic nature from Genesis until now. Dr. Gregg Allison served as Gracilynn’s academic supervisor and much of the content of today's discussion is consistent with Dr. Allison's book, Embodied: Living as Whole People in a Fractured World, as well as Nancy Pearcy's book, Love Thy Body.

If you enjoyed this particular episode, and have a moment or two to spare, I would also so appreciate it if you left a rating or review on Apple podcasts or Spotify. This is one of the easiest and most effective ways through which you can help spread the word about the podcast. I can’t wait to chat more about God and His Word soon. Have a great week!
