Basketball shoes and sneaker culture are a fascinating and popular topic for many, whether it be the original Jordan’s to the collaboration of sneaker releases with pop culture stars like Travis Scott. Who better to discuss this topic with than someone who lived that world for over two decades. Archie McEachern was a successful Nike executive for 28 years including 9 of those years working specifically in basketball. In this episode we discuss the evolution and history of basketball shoes, how athletes get recruited to companies like Nike, the popularity of the game and sneaker culture in Asia and what it was like working with stars like Kobe Bryant.
