Keep Swinging!! Just Keep Swinging and You’ll Be Successful!

I know “keep swinging” is a baseball analogy and Grip Spritz is a product used to keep your basketball shoes clean and grippy, but that is the best advice any new business owner can read . . . Keep Swinging!

Get to know Matt Olen and the team at Grip Spritz. They have created an overnight success more than 10 years in the making. The concept was simple, use a product one of the partners already invented for another market and get into the basketball market . . . and Grip Spritz was born.

It’s taken some years to get their traction (see what I did there?). Grip Spritz is a business built off grass roots efforts. Matt has spent a lot of time and miles on the road to the countless basketball tournaments, clinics, programs, and practices across the country. His work has paid off as you can find Grip Spritz in 32 states and counting.

Matt has learned that the value isn’t necessarily in the bottle. It’s what the stuff in the bottle and the system can do for you as a player, a coach, a team, and a parent. Confidence. Focus. Safety. Competitive Advantage. Branding and more!!

Value is beyond price. Value is the reason people will make that purchase. Matt continues to create and improve that value with each new iteration of the Grip Spritz product catalog.

Matt and his Grip Spritz team members have learned a lot since they began working together. One thing they have done incredibly well is listen to their customers. Matt took the time to visit his customers where they were. He saw what was being used and presented a better way. Once they got some footing, they began thinking about how to be better. They asked their customers what could be done differently, better to make the product more useful and valued.

They didn’t just put out a product and hope it sold. No, they put out a product that worked, really well, and found out how they can improve the experience of all of its users. What does a coach want? What does a player want? What about the parents? Everyone had a say in what Grip Spritz would bring to the market. And those customers were the first ones to experience the next iteration of Grip Spritz. Value personified!!

They started with individual spray bottles for players. They’ve grown to team application systems. They will have branding opportunities for teams & schools looking to bolster their brand at tournaments. And the next product is a full-court cleaning system. The plan is to branch out to other court sports with a more targeted approach eventually getting back to the original application of the cleaning solution, golf. Grip Spritz has such a great future even if they do come full circle!
