"TONOW" BECAUSE TOMORROW IS TOO LATE ! | With Rachelle Yarnell and Scott MacMeans | The Business Spotlight
Manage episode 456352541 series 3549906
Rachelle Yarnell is a girl from a small town in northeast Ohio with big dreams. She started her career as a stylist, built clientele, developed relationships, and has established a strong business across multiple local salon locations and education & training programs across the globe. She wears many hats, and she is the one that decides what hat she wears!
Rachelle is in the “business of people”. Her guests are the most important people. The stylists that work with her are very important people. The guests of those stylists are important people. Rachelle knows that it is people that have experiences. People have been, are, and will forever remain at the center of her business. Accepting new guests and building new & growing relationships is always a good idea. If people are at the center of her business, it is the systems in place that are both the foundation and driving force of how things get done.
As a leader of businesses at various locations Rachelle cannot be everywhere at once. So, she installed systems that each location uses to manage the day-to-day operations of the business. This allows her the time and opportunity to be strategic, visionary, and a great teacher, coach, and mentor to her teams. Rachelle leads by example. She sets the tone. She’s also willing to pivot when necessary.
Her philosophy on systems is simple:
Write It Down
Talk About It
Use It
Adjust It
Creativity is one of her superpowers. Rachelle is the type of business owner that tackles opportunity with creativity. She tells a story of how she tackled the COVID pandemic with creativity. She was doing things to shift the paradigm. And it worked. Her guests were happy, she was able to keep the business moving forward, and she found ways to capitalize on other people’s lack of vision. “TONOW” - opportunity presented itself, so she decided to expand her business and purchase additional salons while other owners were closing shop.
Believe it or not, Rachelle still styles hair. She LOVES it. It is her time to connect with her guests and be creative. But she is also a business owner. Rachelle makes a concerted effort to switch between the days as the “technician” and days as the “owner”. As the “technician” she is all-in making sure her guests are treated right and leaving satisfied and happy. When she puts on that “owner’s hat", she’s strategic, visionary, and willing to be that leader. That is how winning is done!
There is a lot of great insight and education found in this conversation with Rachelle. I highly recommend that you click the link to watch the full episode:
