In 1961 a severely deaf Darryl Beamish made a series of written confessions, led by the police, that he had murdered Jillian Brewer. In 1963 John Button was convicted of manslaughter of Rosemary Anderson and sentenced to ten years in prison. Four months after Button was convicted notorious serial killer Eric Edgar Cooke made detailed gallows confessions that he had killed Jillian Brewer and Rosemary Anderson. Despite this, multiple appeals by Beamish and Button were dismissed.
