It’s been a long summer and offseason, hasn’t it?

When we left off in May with The Isles Faithful Podcast – we were reeling in a sense, not from the season ending but more of HOW it ended against Carolina. Overall, it was clearly way MORE than we expected, but there was clearly some work to be done by Lou Lamoriello and crew.

This summer saw a few additions, a few subtractions and a ton of extensions.

Free agency saw the Islanders miss out on their number 1 target, only for him to sign with their bitter crosstown rivals. Where have we heard this before though?

Jeff Capellini and I talk about all of this and a whole bunch more in Episode 36, the kick off show for Season 2.

We talk contracts pertaining to Semyon Varmarlov, Anthony Beauvillier, Anders Lee, Brock Nelson, Jordan Eberle, Josh Ho-Sang, Michael Dal Colle and Derek Brassard. We go into the decision to allow Robin Lehner to walk, and how Valteri Fillpula wound up back in Detroit. We talk about SO MUCH, that this episode runs over an hour, but I promise it’s worth it.

Most importantly, we discuss the addition of Assistant Coach and former Maple Leafs power play coach Jim Hiller – ending the tenure of now former Assistant Scott Gomez, a leftover from the old regime.
