This week, we're taking a trip inside the mind of a musical genius.
There are a lot of different opinions about Mac Miller.
His original brand was polarizing in the Blog Era, but his musical growth always remained intact throughout his career. That seems to be how he made Faces, his 11th mixtape that was released on May 11th, 2014.
Compared to many other albums, this one takes a serious dark turn. The Pittsburgh artist managed to blend jazz with modern sounds to illustrate the madness that he encompassed on his journey. Fortunately, there are bright spots that also boost his boisterous personality, and both highs and lows come together to create an experience that makes you both excited for Mac Miller's experimentation, but more concerned about the demons he faced.
In this episode, we choose our top three tracks, talk about some of the samples used in Faces, and talk about how it felt to listen to the album knowing the struggles he faced in life until his end.
