Black History Month: Arts and LifexPodcasts
Manage episode 321536023 series 3134821
Black History Month is an annual celebration of the contributions and sacrifices of African Americans who created the nation. Black History Month celebrates the rich cultural heritage, triumphs and adversities that are an ineffaceable part of the United State’s history of slavery and violence. This celebration is a powerful reminder that Black History is American history. But as much as Black History Month is about remembering the past and its enduring effects, it's also about celebrating and honoring Black joy and excellence.
In this episode, The Daily’s Arts and Life sections have compiled listicles to highlight and recommend some of their favorite Black artists. Today we’re joined by Arts and Life Managing Editors Kirsten Mettler and Peyton Lee, Culture Beat Desk Editor Bhu Kongtaveelert and Arts and Life Reads columnist Leyla Yilmaz as they discuss some of their picks.
