Synopsis: This evening (10/11/23), prior to our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, I decided to take up a topic I felt I needed to address. Earlier today I had a VERY brief discussion with a fellow Jewish educator about how we've been handling our students' questions about horrific terrorist attacks on our people in Israel. I said that I don't have all the answers, but I knew I should begin with the Rambam's Hilchos Taaniyos 1:1-3, which is about the mitzvah we were given specifically to implement at a time of war. She felt that this was not a good approach to take at the present time. I disagreed. Strongly. We didn't really get a chance to discuss this length, so I won't presume to know her reasoning, but I wanted to talk out my own reasoning, and decided to do so tonight as a preface to our shiur on Tehilim 20.
