CAROUSEL_THE THRILL

This week, on Maclean’s pop-culture podcast—hosted by Adrian Lee, Emma Teitel and Julia De Laurentiis Johnson—we start by discussing the record-smashing dinosaur blockbuster Jurassic World. Film writer John Semley joins us to talk about the rules of the summer blockbuster, the stardom of Chris Pratt, and we’ll do a quiz to see what we really know about dinosaurs, given how wrong the original Jurassic Park film was. (Pretty much half the world watched it, but if you’re not among them, please note that the segment features minor spoilers.) Then, we’re joined by the provocative polymath Peaches. She talks about her new book, her legacy, and her status as a queer icon. Finally, we’ll talk to David Spencer, who wrote the script and lyrics for the musical The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, the adaptation of a Mordecai Richler classic novel that’s running now at Montreal’s Segal Centre until July 12. That show has, controversially, changed the book’s ending; we’ll ask him why.

Check out the other offerings on the Maclean’s podcast network, too: Listen to our books podcast, the Bibliopod, here! And listen to our politics podcast Maclean’s On The Hill, right here! And don’t forget: The Thrill is on summer schedule, so our next episode will come on July 3. We explain why here. Talk to you then!
