In this episode of the ‘Where People Meet’ Podcast, we are joined by the outstanding Janice Cardinale, who is an accomplished entrepreneur, respected leader, and influencer in the Meetings and Events industry. She is an Associate Editor for CSE Magazine, Content Writer for MPI Global and United Colours of Design, and the Board Chair for Seneca College Event Management and Creative Design. On top of all that, she is a passionate mental health advocate and the founder of Giving Butterflies, a project within Cardinale Creative dedicated to helping event and hospitality professionals in need.

In January 2021, Janice founded Cardinale Creative as a way to give back to the event community and to pay it forward. At the heart of this business are the mission projects that she curates and executes to raise funds for student bursaries, support for other event professionals struggling with physical or mental health in their life and bringing purpose and possibility to others who may be suffering in silence.

With over 35 years of networking, mentoring and extensive experience under her belt, Janice sat down to answer a few questions about how she came to be where she is today, discuss strategies that event professionals can implement in order to balance their work life and mental health, and also share some tips on what employers can do to improve the mental health and well-being of their employees in the workplace.

“According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, 55% of businesses across Canada can’t fill job positions, which is huge. And 26% of those are struggling just to retain people.” - Janice Cardinale
