Does New Jersey have a whistleblower law?
New Jersey has a robust whistleblower law known as the Conscientious Employee Protection Act (CEPA). The Whistleblower Advocates specializes in representing individuals who come forward to report unlawful, unethical, or damaging workplace behavior. CEPA is one of the toughest whistleblower protection laws in the United States, offering comprehensive protection to employees who expose legal infractions, fraudulent practices, or any other conduct that endangers public health, safety, or welfare.
Employers are banned by CEPA from retaliating against employees who report such actions, refuse to participate in them, or cooperate in investigations or legal procedures involving the misbehavior. Retaliation might take the form of termination, demotion, harassment, or any other type of unfavorable job action. If you face reprisal for blowing the whistle, you have the right to make a claim under CEPA for compensation for lost pay, emotional distress, and other damages.
What are whistleblowers not protected against?
Whistleblowers are protected from retribution under statutes such as the New Jersey Conscientious Employee Protection Act (CEPA) and the federal False Claims Act, although they are not immune from all potential consequences of their activities.
