On January 25, 2024 I, Laura Crago Host of Alter Eagle Podcast, sat down with U.S. Representative Mike Kelly, R-16th, to discuss stigma surrounding addiction, the future of legislation and the loss of potential. Rep. Kelly and I had a brief conversation and a long conversation to come this season surrounding those topics.

The main focus was mental health as an underlying issue when it comes to addiction, and that conversation was with Dr. Brophy- medical director of the Gaiser Center and local physician who’s board certified in both addiction medicine and emergency medicine, Joe Mahoney- executive director at the Ellen O’Brien Gasier Center, licensed social worker with 16 years of experience in the mental and behavioral health fields. and Alyssa Vorel from the Ellen O'Brien Gaiser Center, as well as Rachel Shuster- Certified Addictions Registered Nurse and person in long-term recovery from opioid addiction. The guests have decades of experience when it comes to recovery in addiction, the neuroscience, trauma, physical side as well as stigma surrounding addiction.
