Good morning, New York City! This is your weather wizard here with the scoop on what Mother Nature has in store for us.
Let's break down today's forecast with a dash of urban charm. We're looking at a crisp day with mostly sunny skies and a high temperature near 39 degrees Fahrenheit. But don't be fooled - the wind chill will make it feel more like a chilly 20 to 30 degrees. Time to layer up, city dwellers! That north wind will start around 5 miles per hour and then decide to take a little breather, becoming light and variable in the morning.
Tonight things get interesting. We're expecting rain to crash our party after 4 in the morning, with temperatures dipping to around 34 degrees. It's going to be a wet one, with a solid 80 percent chance of precipitation and just a tiny sprinkle of less than a tenth of an inch.
As we roll into the weekend, Saturday looks like a washout. Rain is basically guaranteed with a 90 percent chance, temperatures climbing to a mild 48 degrees. The wind will do a little dance, starting from the east and then sliding to the south in the afternoon.
Sunday brings more moisture with rain likely before 1 pm. We'll see temperatures climbing to a surprisingly warm 57 degrees with south winds between 7 and 15 miles per hour.
The start of the work week continues the wet trend, with rain possible Monday morning and gradually clearing up. Temperatures will hover around the mid 50s.
For all you New Year's Eve party planners, keep an umbrella handy as we're looking at a 60 percent chance of rain to start the new year.
